SNOW MANAGEMENT INFORMATION
Posted on Mar 5th, 2013

Who is responsible for plowing my street?

Lake Ridge Nursery will provide snow plowing service for the private roads in the townhome neighborhoods.
Please contact your Neighborhood Board representative or contact Management at 703-590-1600 or HOA@westridgeva.org. If the Clubhouse is closed, the voice mail and e-mail will be monitored for messages.  Also, Legum & Norman (the Association’s management company) maintains a 24-hour answering service for emergency calls (703-600-6000).

For Single-family homes located on public streets, plowing is provided by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).  For information regarding plowing in the single-family neighborhoods, visit http://novasnowplowing.virginia.gov or call VDOT at 703-383-8368.

In the event of an emergency situation, please call the Prince William County Police Department at 703-792-6500.

Will trash and recycling be picked-up?

American Disposal Services will cancel collection in areas they deem to be unsafe due to snow or ice.  If service is cancelled for this reason, collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day.  For information regarding cancellations and delays, visit www.americandisposal.com/weatherboard.php

Will the sidewalks and walking trails be cleared?

The Association does not clear snow and ice from common area sidewalks, steps, walking trails, or mailbox areas (except at the clubhouse).  We ask for your assistance in shoveling your sidewalk, around fire hydrants, mailboxes and storm sewer inlets.

Snow Management Operations for the townhome neighborhoods:

Initial plowing is provided to clear entrances and create a single travel lane for residents and emergency vehicles. Plowing will be repeated during the storm in an effort to maintain reasonable access. A final plowing will be completed at the end of the storm to widen roadways.  A certain amount of snow will be left along the rear of parked cars.

Ice melt will be applied after plowing or as needed during icy conditions.  The ice melt product being used eliminates the need to apply sand.

Residents are asked not to give instructions to or make special requests of the plow drivers.  Please contact your Neighborhood Board representative or contact Management at 703-590-1600 or HOA@westridgeva.org.

Notes about safety:

Please keep clear of the roadways when plowing trucks are on site. Please do not allow children to play on or behind snow piles while plowing is in progress.

Drivers - when approaching a snow plow, please yield to the plow.  They may have less maneuvering ability.

If you are aware of a neighbor who may require assistance with shoveling, please consider adding a few minutes to your shoveling to help them out.

Remember to dress in layers for maximum warmth and to take appropriate breaks from shoveling.  Stay safe and stay warm!
